LECTURE (with conversation):
“The Great Little Man”
of the Internet underground

DEUTSCH

ENGLISH

As Adorno argued, at the heart of “personalized fascist propaganda” lies the concept of a »great little man« who is at the same time an extraordinary and generic individual-one of the many, but also better than everyone else.  Jernej Kaluza discusses in his lecture the genealogy of such subjectivity and its manifestations in today’s populist politics.

His thesis: populism is effective because the identical structure can also be said to be innocent, even apolitical discourses. In this lecture, he will discuss discourse on the “great little man”, linking this to the myth of ‘personal rise’, and how this works from the inside and manifests itself on the internet.
